  1. My motivational advice is to follow your passion (do what you love and love what you do) and make sure to celebrate small victories, especially when your goal seems overwhelming. (You reach the top of a mountain one step at a time…)
My practical advice is to join a nonprofit board of directors. Many nonprofit boards are looking for smart, passionate, dynamic women to help lead them into the future, and I can’t think of anyone better than a MHC alum! Not only do you gain valuable experience (and resume talking points!) but you can make a huge difference, especially with small local nonprofits. (It is also a great way to build your professional network!) If you don’t feel ready to join a board just yet, or don’t have enough time to make a large scale commitment, volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference without burning out.
